Why You Probably Don’t Need to Spend Much On a Computer.
There is something called Moor’s law, feel free to Google it for those interested but generally it states that computers are getting about twice as good every two years. And it’s pretty much true, they are getting better and better but do we really need the new ones?
You may remember an advertisement for a laptop or computer around 2 years ago, without going in to too much detail let’s say it was advertised as a gaming laptop! It’s top of the range and can run anything, but you will pay for it.
Two years later this same laptop is for sale, but it’s cheap and is advertised for word processing and if you’re feeling daring…browsing the web.
What’s changed?
The retailers will tell you that the new games and applications that are around these days are much more powerful so need these new computers with the extra memory and power. And this is true but only to a small extent, the fact is the games and applications haven’t got that much better; not enough to be buying a new laptop every year anyway.
I spent £400 (around $642USD) on my laptop and it runs Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver and others perfectly but was advertised for timidly surfing the web.
In summary don’t believe all of what the people in your local computer mega store tell you, there’s a good chance you will save a lot of money.
